For the past few years, the Cache County Sheriff's Department has held a fundraiser for the Special Olympics called the Polar Plunge. Sponsors donate money to the organization and in return people jump into the freezing cold waters of Hyrum Dam. However, the sheriff's department is required to do a little more than the rest. Last year the department started what they call "Super Plungers" which basically means glutton for punishment! Each deputy that chose to be involve...my husband...had to jump into the water every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours. What champs they were every hour as they made their way down to the waters edge and jumped. Having just started dating such a hunk, and wanting to make sure he was well taken care of, I made it a point to cheer him on through the wee hours of the morning with our friends. I mean, what crazy girl wouldn't do such a thing like that? It was such a fun experience, but very hard on the deputies. They decided to NEVER jump 24 times into the freezing cold water ever again. This year, with about $14,000 raised, the deputies organized themselves into teams of 2-3 and jumped a painful 5 or 6 times each to fulfill the 24 jumps.
Jump #1: January 16th at Noon. Its always fun to watch their faces as they come up out of the water...the shock never changes!

You're crazy! Lauren, we have to get our husbands together. They are MUCH alike . . .
