Polar Plunge 2009...Freezin' For A Reason? Viewer discretion is advised!

For those familiar with the workings of my fearless husband, none of the following images will come as a surprise. But, for those of you who are not….this display may come as quite a shock. In either case, if you have any fear of cold water you may want to quickly navigate to a more flowery blog. The following images have been known to cause severe chills and gasping for air. These pictures are only for the strong!

For the past few years, the Cache County Sheriff's Department has held a fundraiser for the Special Olympics called the Polar Plunge. Sponsors donate money to the organization and in return people jump into the freezing cold waters of Hyrum Dam. However, the sheriff's department is required to do a little more than the rest. Last year the department started what they call "Super Plungers" which basically means glutton for punishment! Each deputy that chose to be involve...my husband...had to jump into the water every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours. What champs they were every hour as they made their way down to the waters edge and jumped. Having just started dating such a hunk, and wanting to make sure he was well taken care of, I made it a point to cheer him on through the wee hours of the morning with our friends. I mean, what crazy girl wouldn't do such a thing like that? It was such a fun experience, but very hard on the deputies. They decided to NEVER jump 24 times into the freezing cold water ever again. This year, with about $14,000 raised, the deputies organized themselves into teams of 2-3 and jumped a painful 5 or 6 times each to fulfill the 24 jumps.Jump #1: January 16th at Noon. Its always fun to watch their faces as they come up out of the water...the shock never changes!

Maybe one day they'll learn not to wear their uniform... Oh the chill of cold, wet clothing!
Jumpin in the night: As cute as he is...I'm not quite convinced that by this time the cold water wasn't a part in the outfit here... a flowery swimming cap and floating shark?...hmmm..if you know what I mean!FREE WILLY! This picture makes me laugh every time!
Jump #6: January 17th at Noon. The last jump. They look experienced now! Look out! The S.E.R.T team's been called in to school the water!
As if the cold didn't even phase them!#1 Greates Fan: So I'm a little star struck...okay, a lot...but can you blame me?
And of course the parent's, his second greatest fans, came to cheer him on!!
